Science is everywhere.......
In 6th grade science, students become active investigators of the natural world, guided by Oklahoma’s science standards. They explore key concepts in Earth and Space Science, Life Science, and Physical Science through hands-on activities, data analysis, and scientific modeling. Students learn how the geologic time scale helps explain Earth’s history, how air masses and weather patterns influence our daily lives, and how natural hazards shape our planet. In Life Science, they investigate cells, body systems, and how organisms respond to internal and external stimuli. In Physical Science, students explore the nature of energy, including kinetic and potential energy, and how waves transfer energy and information. Emphasis is placed on using evidence to ask questions, develop models, and design solutions, helping students think and act like scientists. By the end of the year, students build a strong foundation for scientific thinking, setting the stage for deeper learning in later grades.
