Expectations

I have expectations in my class that every scholar must meet, just as they have expectations for me.

Expectations for a Successful Seventh Grade Year

Welcome to 7th grade! I'm so excited for the school year and everything we're going to accomplish together. To make sure our classroom is a great place for everyone to learn and grow, we'll all follow a few key expectations.

1. The Golden Rule

This is the most important expectation we have: treat others the way you want to be treated. This means showing respect to your classmates and to me at all times. We will have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, name-calling, or any behavior that makes others feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Our classroom is a community, and every single person deserves to be treated with kindness and dignity.

2. Be Ready to Learn

Every day, I expect you to come to class prepared and ready to learn. This means:

  • Arriving on time and being in your seat when the bell rings.

  • Having all of your necessary materials with you (pens, paper, notebooks, textbooks, etc.).

  • Putting your phone away in your backpack or assigned spot, as it will distract you from learning.

3. Be Engaged

Learning is a team effort! Your active participation makes our class better for everyone. I expect you to stay engaged and focused throughout our lessons. This includes:

  • Listening respectfully when I or a classmate is speaking.

  • Raising your hand to ask questions or share your thoughts.

  • Doing your best work on all assignments and class activities.

4. Take Responsibility

Seventh grade is a great time to become more independent. You are in charge of your own education, and I expect you to take responsibility for your own actions and work. This means:

  • Keeping track of your assignments and due dates.

  • Doing your homework and turning it in on time.

  • Keeping your desk and the classroom area clean.

  • Taking ownership of your choices and accepting the consequences, both positive and negative.

Remember, when one person chooses to disrupt the class, they are not only affecting their own learning, but they are also ruining the chance for the class as a whole to learn. By respecting these expectations, we can create a positive and productive environment where everyone can succeed. Let's make this an amazing year together!
