Hello! I’m Valerie Kearton. Originally from Oklahoma, I’ve had the opportunity to live in several states, including Texas, Illinois, Maryland, and Ohio. I graduated with honors from Texas Woman's University, where I served as the Editor of my university’s newspaper.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll likely find me reading a great book or enjoying the outdoors—whether it’s camping, hiking, kayaking, or fishing. I’ve always had a passion for learning and exploring, which I strive to share with my students.

Before joining ASTEC Charter Schools, I taught high school English and worked as a Children’s Librarian, helping foster a love of reading in young minds. I also own my own Little Free Library named the Federal Street Free Library. I’m thrilled to bring these experiences to the classroom!

At home, I’m a proud mom to three wonderful kids—Matthew, Isabella, and Maya. Our family also includes a lively mix of pets. We absolutely love animals!
