Hi, I'm Ms. Howdeshell, and I'm excited about teaching OK History and Civics. I am originally from Texas, but I have always had a fascination with Oklahoma. I studied History and Art History at Texas Tech University.

I enjoy reading and crocheting, and I can usually be found reading a book or working on a crochet project in my free time. Don't be afraid to ask me about whatever book I'm reading or what my current crochet project is.

When not reading or crocheting, I enjoy spending time with my pets. I have one cat named Mango and a dog named Tula.

I love history, and it can usually get me off topic in my everyday life.

Go Comets! I am very excited to be your ASTEC teacher!  I am looking forward to the  exploration of history and civics together.

Throughout my course, I hope that each scholar will:

  • Improve their scholarly academic skills: conducting research, identifying sources, speaking, and writing

  • Gain a greater understanding of and appreciation for our state as we connect the course to our personal lives

  • Develop their mastery of the 4 C's: Content, Competency, Character, and Community
